MIRI: The Sarawak Bumiputera Chamber of Entrepreneurs (DUBS) will hold the Sarawak Oil and Gas Seminar and Exhibition 2019 in collaboration with Suarah Petroleum Group (SPG) and the Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council at Imperial Hotel here on April 13-14.
Co-organising chairman Hamim Yusuf said the seminar is supported by the Sarawak government, Petros, and Petronas.
“The main theme of the event is ‘Now or Never!’, with a tagline of ‘Sarawak – Able, Capable, Willing’,” Hamim said in a press release yesterday.
“It is anticipated that there will be lively and relevant discussions in view that Sarawak has announced the implementation of the Oil Mining Ordinance 1958 and of Sarawakians’ expectations of greater participation and benefit from the Sarawak oil and gas industry compared to the last 43 years.”
He said top Sarawak government officials are expected to attend, while Petros, Petronas, Curtin University Sarawak Malaysia, as well as industry leaders and players have confirmed their participation.
The exhibition, which is open to the public, will showcase the experience and capabilities of Sarawak’s oil and gas companies and businesses.
Hamim said the seminar will involve commercial and technical sessions on various topics, issues, challenges, and opportunities.
“And it is hoped that it will result in resolutions and an action plan to be submitted to the Sarawak government,” he added.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the seminar’s closing ceremony.
